Managing your own Surgical Consultants waiting lists, patient letters, booking in their theatre lists and dealing with patients over the telephone.  Covering MDT meetings when needed for cross team cover.  Supporting the team when required during sickness or annual leave.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual/s to join one of our Surgical Admin Teams.  We have a permanent full time post available at 37.5 hours per week, but would also consider two part-time people job sharing.  The department is staffed Monday to Friday between 0800 -1700 and hours will be agreed during these times. The post-holder/s will be responsible for managing several Surgical Consultants, but will also be expected to provide cross-cover between the team and to provide cover absence.  Applicants can discuss at interview preferred hours.

You must be highly motivated with excellent communication skills, an ability to use your own initiative and work well under pressure. You will be adaptable, reliable and an excellent team member with excellent organisational skills and administration experience. Knowledge of working in a hospital environment and medical terminology is desirable, however we can offer courses to develop you further. You will be working with a wide range of people and communicating with both patients and staff therefore empathy and patience is essential.
