Role Summary

  • To provide a good quality professional service
  • To provide support to the clinicians within the Acute Surgery Division  
  • To provide excellent patient care which will include communication with distressed and anxious patients, treating them with tact and empathy at all times
  • Ensuring provision of a professional, efficient, accurate and timely service
  • Ensure the professional image of the Trust is maintained at all times 
  • Providing support mainly to the CNS Colorectal Department but may be required to work in all departments within the Acute Surgery Division.
  • The post holder will be part of a Trust Administration team. This post may require weekend working from time to time.
  • Providing administration/secretarial support to the clinical team.
  • Managing the surgical waiting list and booking theatre lists
  • Booking patient consent & pre-op appointments and ward discharges
  • Keeping on top of referral to treatment pathways.
  • Answering telephones and dealing with queries related to appointments and surgical dates
  • Supporting admin colleagues where needed at busy times such as when a consultant is on-call.
  • Proof reading and sending out clinic letters on the EPIC system.
  • Generally being amazing every day.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our Vascular Surgery Team.  We have a  permanent post available at 37.5 hours per week.  The department is staffed Monday to Friday between 0800 -1700.  The post-holder will be assigned to a primary role but would be expected to provide cross-cover between the team  and to provide cover absence.  Applicants can discuss at interview preferred hours.

You must be highly motivated with excellent communication skills, an ability to use your own initiative and work well under pressure. You will be adaptable, reliable and an excellent team member with good secretarial qualifications and/or experience. Knowledge of working in a hospital environment and medical terminology is desirable. You will be working with a wide range of people and communicating with both patients and staff therefore empathy and patience is essential.  The Vascular Admin team are an established Surgical Admin team.

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday core office hours
