Locum Knee Consultant

Role Summary

Applications are invited for a full-time locum post of Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a specialist interest in knee surgery.  The applicant should be trained in general orthopaedics and traumatology and have significant experience and fellowship training in the sub-speciality of knee surgery with a further interest in lower limb trauma. The successful applicant will be given the opportunity to develop their skills and interest in the field of knee arthroplasty. Applicants should have a proven track record in research and will be part of a close-knit, thriving Knee Team. The post is for a 3-month period.

The Princess Elizabeth Orthopaedic Centre at the RD&E has a long history of orthopaedic innovation and excellence. It is a successful department with significant subspecialty expertise.

 

The Exeter Knee Reconstruction unit manage all knee problems including sports injuries, early and advanced osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, revision surgery and complex lower limb trauma. They are also involved in leading edge techniques and research in cartilage regeneration, ligament reconstruction, patellofemoral surgery, lower limb osteotomy, post traumatic knee reconstruction, primary knee replacement, robotic assisted knee surgery and revision knee surgery.

 

The team includes 6 consultants, 3 senior fellows, 1 specialist registrar, 2 extended scope physiotherapists and 2 surgical care practitioners.

 

The RD&E is a Teaching Hospital based in the historic cathedral city of Exeter in the heart of the South West of England.  As such it enjoys a wealth of sporting and cultural resources along with access to the many beaches of Devon and Cornwall and the open moorland of Exmoor and Dartmoor.  Situated as it is on the motorway network, Exeter enjoys excellent travel links with the rest of the United Kingdom, Exeter is 2 hours from London by train and has a major regional airport.
