Role Summary
Applications are invited for this exciting opportunity as a Locum Consultant Ophthalmologist to join the dynamic and expanding Ophthalmology Department at North Devon District Hospital, which is part of the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. There are currently six consultants, with special interests including paediatric ophthalmology, ocular motility, medical retina & uveitis, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, oculoplastics and vitreoretinal. The department also has two experienced associate specialists, several specialty doctors, GPs with a special interest and specialty trainees from the regional training programme. The unit is well-regarded within the region for training of ST3-level ophthalmology trainees and supporting SAS doctors.
We are looking to appoint a locum consultant, initially for 12 months who wishes to retain a broad-based portfolio but with a subspecialty interest that will complement our department. The successful applicant will provide comprehensive ophthalmology services for patients across North Devon and applications from candidates with sub-specialty interests will be considered. However, medical retina sub specialty experience and knowledge would be preferred, to fulfil the current service requirements.
