Role Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to come and join the team at Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Trust. We are looking for an experienced Midwife who has the passion for leading and coordinating the Infant Feeding service in line with UNICEF BFI standards.
As an expert with specialist skills and knowledge, you will engage and motivate the team to develop a service which is committed to best practice in infant feeding.
The post holder will provide professional, clinical leadership in the development and improvement of services which promote health for women / birthing people and their babies accessing maternity care at Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, (RDUH).
This leadership role will be based across both sites at RDUH in Barnstaple and Exeter. The post holder will be working as part of the Infant Feeding team, working closely with our Neonatal colleagues in a committed and coordinated way to achieve UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative accreditation. This will be in line with the Three year delivery plan for Maternity and Neonatal services.

A key priority of the role is to work as the lead expert supporting a coordinated and Trust wide approach with our Midwifery colleagues and Neonatal teams to achieve UNICEF BFI accreditation.
The successful candidate will have specialist knowledge and skills and be the expert who will take the lead in programmes of support and advice for parents and also the training and support for all staff within maternity services.
They will work well as part of the Multidisciplinary team approach and will be able to engage and motivate all staff to develop a service which is committed to best practice in infant feeding and the promotion of breastfeeding and improved outcomes.
Whilst promoting breastfeeding within maternity services, they will support the team in the development of strategies to enable the continued success of breastfeeding in the future with a specific focus on reducing health inequalities.
The post holder will lead on, and contribute to, regular audit activities, including service user experience to inform any improvements to the service where necessary.
Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, job share will be considered
