Role Summary
The Healthcare Assistant will work with a team of HCA's and Assistant Practitioner to ensure the smooth running of the Oncology Outpatient service. The role involves supporting patients whilst they attend for either treatment reviews or follow up clinic appointments. They are responsible for ensuring that each patient has the necessary blood tests, ECG, clinical measurements and appointments prior to starting their treatment. They will assist the medical team in providing written information for the designated treatment and other support services.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate person to join our team within the busy Oncology Outpatients Department and Cherrybrook Unit. The successful candidate will need to enjoy working with people and be able to maintain a professional, empathic approach, in this sensitive environment.
This post involves working Monday to Friday’s alongside the Oncology Consultants in their outpatient clinics, making appointments, providing information and support to patients and families and completing simple clinical tasks as directed.
The successful candidate will be supported to develop further clinical skills such as venepuncture and ECG's so that these investigations can take place within the unit, minimising multiple visits to the hospital.
The Healthcare Assistant will support the Registered Nurses on Cherrybrook Day case unit by helping to prepare and clean the unit each day, and will also have the opportunity to support clinics in our outreach location at Ottery St Mary hospital from time to time.
We are particularly keen to hear from people who are organised, kind and who work well under pressure to join our dedicated team in this specialised area.
Working Pattern: 8am - 6pm
