Role Summary
The postholder will support the Health & Safety Team on a daily basis in non-clinical administration & the management of health and safety, including:
- Initial review of incidents received
- Support incident investigations
- Arranging meetings/groups, taking minutes and assisting in following up actions.
- Support & engage with external regulators on site (e.g HSE or CQC) who may require contact with the H&S team.
- Oversee a number of duties concerning the management of Lone Working safety Devices provided to Community staff
- Support the delivery of training
- Play an active role in the delivery of Health & safety related proactive work (e.g H&S awareness events)
- Support / participate in the Health and Safety Audit programme.
- Oversee the H&S policy library management.
- Support the maintenance of H&S related pages on the trusts intranet

More detail about the role
The Health & Safety Support will provide support to the Health and Safety Team across all acute and community services. The post holder will be based in Barnstaple under the supervision of the Northern Services Health and Safety Manager and will provide centralised support regarding the management of health and safety to the team based at the RD&E and NDDH. The role will include administrative responsibilities and provide support in re-active (incident investigations) and pro-active work duties (e.g. audit programme). This is an opportunity for someone who may wish to develop in the field of health and safety in a healthcare environment. Candidates must be able to work under their own initiative and also as part of a team, have good interpersonal skills and support trust values and principles of just culture.
Working Pattern: Mon-Fri 37.5 hours per week
