Role Summary
We are seeking applications for a dynamic leader to run the Optometry service and manage the Optometry Team at the RDUH Northern Site. The post holder will provide professional supervision of Optometrists, Optometry students, junior medical staff, Health Care Support Workers, nursing staff and other staff in Optometrist led multi-disciplinary clinics.
They will work with the wider Ophthalmology team, Service Manager and Divisional Management Team to deliver the strategic vision for the service, support elective recovery and offer high quality and effective patient care.

The Head of Optometry will provide strong, visible clinical and professional leadership to the Optometry team and provide highly specialist and expert advice for all Optometry professional matters; this will also require working externally with other agencies at a local, regional and national level.
The post holder will responsible for contributing to the development and implementation of specified projects within the Optometry service and work collaboratively and effectively with Senior Managers and other Senior Clinicians in the Ophthalmology service and the Surgical Division, to contribute to and to inform the strategic planning and operational delivery of Optometry Services, including planning for workforce, training and capital. The post holder will be expected to lead on this for their professional area and develop plans in conjunction with the Service and Group Managers and Divisional Director.
Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
