Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (Royal Devon) is looking for an inspirational, enthusiastic, driven and passionate senior midwife to take up the rewarding post of Head of Midwifery. The Head of Midwifery is a senior leadership role in which the post holder will have professional responsibility for gynaecology and maternity services, across Royal Devon University Healthcare settings, this includes responsibility for both North Devon District Hospital and the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital (Wonford) and working at both of these Hospitals.

Reporting to the Associate Director of Midwifery (ADOM) the post holder is responsible for ensuring optimum and effective management of the workforce, financial and physical resources and for providing expert professional advice on maternity and midwifery issues at Trust and system level.
The post holder will develop, maintain and provide assurance on clinical and operational governance systems and processes, specifically clinical risk management, CQC standards, clinical policy and procedure, clinical quality, health and safety, safeguarding, patient experience, complaint systems and resolution, incident reporting and resolution and contractual quality measures.
The Head of Midwifery will also work in collaboration with our external partners across the ICB, and maintain key stakeholder relationships with the Local Maternity and Neonatal System (LMNS), Maternity Voices Partnership (MVP), HEIs/HEE, and other service providers across Devon & Cornwall for the benefit of our service users.
As Head of Midwifery at Royal Devon, you will be joining a friendly, high performing organisation committed to ensuring the health and wellbeing of staff and providing staff development and career progression. We are looking for a high calibre individual with specialist professional knowledge of maternity and neonatal services, underpinned by strong communication, innovation and leadership skills, plus an enthusiasm to lead on service and strategy development in line with the Trust’s strategic objectives.
Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week.
