HSDU Technician (Shift)

The Hospital Sterilisation and Decontamination Unit (HSDU), provides the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust’s Operating Theatres, Wards and Departments with Surgical Instruments and Medical Devices required for their sterile procedures.

The HSDU Technician vacancy offers the successful candidate a varied and interesting role across the broad range of Decontamination Sciences. Surgical Instruments are required to be professionally cleaned and inspected before being assembled back into a finished product, prior to being sterilised for re-use in theatres.

We are looking for practical applicants who are able to demonstrate good manual dexterity, maintain high levels of attention to detail, possess good written and verbal skills and be capable of interacting with staff at all levels on a day to day basis. You must be enthusiastic, have a good general education and have the ability to follow instructions and processes. Experience of working in Sterile Services would be advantageous, but is not essential as full training will be given. We are keen to hear from candidates who potentially are able to demonstrate transferable skills.

Key to the job role will be the provision of an efficient and flexible service to ensure that, on a day to day basis, the service meets operational targets which conform to our quality systems environment of ISO 13485:2016 and HTM 01:01.

Applicants must have an adaptable, flexible approach to work and be able to demonstrate they can work successfully within a team, as well as being able to use their own initiative.

Working Pattern: 

Alternating Shift Pattern comprising of:

Early Shift: 08:00 – 16:00hrs, Monday - Friday

Late Shift: 13:30 – 21:30hrs, Monday – Friday

There is a requirement to work 1 weekend in 4 on a rota’d basis.
