This exciting new role of Failsafe Officer will be responsible for undertaking the specific failsafe duties within the ophthalmology department.

  • Monitor patients referred into the Ophthalmology service
  • Assist and track long waiting patients in line with the Access Policy
  • Failsafe processes to minimise risks in the diabetic screening pathway
  • To ensure patients move seamlessly and safely through the ophthalmology pathway
  • Maintain strict confidentiality in respect of clients, correspondence and communication associated with duties

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Failsafe Officer working within the Ophthalmology department.  The post-holder will be required to work closely with both the clinical and administration team to ensure patients move seamlessly and safely through the ophthalmology pathway. 

The Failsafe Officer will analyse and report data to monitor progress against key performance indicators and will have autonomy to manage their own workload. 

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are key for this role as there is a need to communicate complex and sensitive information with a range of stakeholders and provide support to both clinical and administrative staff to resolve and correct patient tracking issues relating to Access and RTT.

This is a busy and dynamic role with a varied and interesting workload and would suit someone that has attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.

You will be part of a friendly and supportive team in the ophthalmology department that contribute every day to ensure our patients receive the very best care. 

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week. Monday - Friday
