Role Summary
This role is a two year fast track apprenticeship learning the necessary skills to become a diagnostic radiographer, it is an MSc route and for those who already hold a Batchelor's degree in a science (BSc) or engineering (BEng) subject at a grade 2:1 or above. You will be based at the North Devon District Hospital in Barnstaple with block weeks of study undertaken at the University of Exeter.

We are looking for an enthusiastic person to join the Radiology Team as a Diagnostic Radiographer Apprentice via the MSc route.
The training will involve a 2 year programme with the University of Exeter whilst completing all practical aspects with us at NDDH as our employee; on completion you will hold a MSc degree in Diagnostic Radiography and Imaging and will qualify as a band 5 radiographer.
The post holder will need to have knowledge of working within the healthcare environment, they will demonstrate organisation, initiative and flexible-thinking, an ability to learn and work in a team, and enjoy a challenge. You must also be able to work a typical roster pattern including out of hours shifts and weekends.
The post holder must be willing and able to undertake the necessary training required to complete the course. This is a fast track entry route completing the course in 2 years instead of 3 and so there will be a lot of training and study at Masters level.
You will be required to have:
- A Batchelor degree in either Science (BSc) or Engineering (BEng) at a 2:1 grade or above
- IT skills
- Be able to work as part of a team
- Be compliant with all mandatory training requirements
- Be able to commit to fully attending the academic blocks (1 block of 3-5 days per annum plus odd extra days) and modules required
Working Pattern: working patterns will vary including some weekend and out of hours working however in the main part you will spend 30 hours per week in the department and 20% (7.5 hours) off the job time per week spent studying.
