More detail about the role

This post provides a unique opportunity for an experienced clinical pharmacist looking for a leadership role within the pharmacy team at the Royal Devon University Healthcare (RDUH) NHS Foundation Trust, based at the Royal Devon Hospital in Exeter.

This is a demanding but rewarding role working within a fast-paced environment located in our main acute pharmacy department supporting Eastern services. The role requires excellent prioritisation skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with a large variety of different staff groups across the Trust and within pharmacy to further develop pharmacy services. In return you will have the opportunity to influence departmental strategy while being supported by the Clinical Pharmacy Manager and also working closely with the senior pharmacy team.

The RDUH Eastern pharmacy team employs over 200 staff members providing services to inpatient ward areas and a variety of departments across the Trust.  Outpatient services are provided through an outsource agreement with an onsite provider.  We also provide pharmacy services through a number of SLA agreements and introduced a full EPR system (EPIC) during 2020.

We are looking for an experienced, dynamic and forward-thinking Deputy Clinical Pharmacy Manager to join our team to provide supportive, professional leadership to the clinical pharmacy and dispensary teams.

This leadership role comes with a mix of clinical responsibilities as well as management responsibilities with the post-holder expected to line manage approximately 15 members of staff.

There is an expectation that the successful candidate will not only line manage the Dispensary Manager and part of the pharmacist team but will also work closely with other section leads such as the Medicines Management Lead, Distribution Lead, Procurement Lead, Education and Training Lead and the Medication Safety Officer.

You will need to be an excellent communicator working both independently and as part of the wider healthcare team, collaborating with Trust staff and external stakeholders, health and social care professionals, patients and carers.

You will have a good understanding of developing and monitoring relevant key performance indicators to the delivery of pharmacy services and experience in change management.

You must be highly self-motivated with excellent operational knowledge and experience of the current NHS hospital clinical pharmacy agenda.

If you believe you have the skills and experience necessary to fulfil this role we look forward to hearing from you.

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week. There is a requirement to participate in 7 day working to include late duties, bank holidays and weekend working.

Interview Date: Monday 17th June 2024
