Role Summary

This is a salaried position, based in Devon, without the stress of delivering UDAs and clawback, which includes the benefit of a full NHS pension. The role is well supported by a highly motivated, multidisciplinary team of dentists, dental therapists, post graduate trainees, dental nurses and admin staff ensuring you the opportunity to make a genuine difference in the community.

You will work in partnership with the Lead Dentist and Senior Manager to provide clinical leadership, delivering comprehensive, advanced dental care to patients with special needs and patients with special clinical requirements. You will have an interest in developing the service and in promoting a culture of quality, innovation, productivity, and preventative care.

Our dental service has close links with hospital consultants, professional care services and clinical training programmes providing opportunities for continuing professional development, research and teaching.

This post is offered on a full-time basis; however, we may be able to support some flexibility around hours.

Consultant in Special Care Dentistry

Applications are invited for the new post of Consultant in Special Care Dentistry at Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, an innovative Trust that is consistently ranked top in the country for staff satisfaction.

We are looking for a dynamic individual with drive and vision who thrives on delivering the highest standard of comprehensive clinical care to a wide range of patients including treatment under GA, conscious sedation and special care dentistry. You will act as a role model and provide specialist clinical support to an experienced and highly motivated community dental team.

We will be looking to this role to help to shape and direct the further development of the special care service and to provide clinical leadership along with the Lead Dentist. You will have the support of the Senior Management Team of Senior Dental Officers, Senior Nurses and Service Manager.

The Devon Salaried Dental Service operates within 7 locations based across Exeter, East, Mid and North Devon and incorporates five broad work streams including: special care, general anaesthesia and sedation, urgent care, oral surgery, oral health promotion and oral screening and epidemiology.

Our medical staffing team will help you get settled, providing financial relocation support, registration for children at one of the excellent local schools and support for partners seeking employment
