Role Summary

This role forms part of a wider integrated department that includes our Northern services based in Barnstaple, and which jointly provide telephone or video consultations for patients living across Northern, Eastern and Mid Devon.

Our combined Obstetrics and Gynaecology department is friendly, successful and ambitious. The Royal Devon is a Trust which encourages and supports innovation, diversity, digital development and research.

We are seeking a Consultant in Gynaecological Oncology with specialist accreditation in gynaecological oncology to join our team at Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. This post offers the opportunity to contribute to a department focused on delivering high-quality, patient-centred care across sites in Exeter and Barnstaple. The post will be based at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital, with support provided to the service at North Devon District Hospital where required.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with colleagues to support the delivery and development of gynaecological oncology services across the Trust.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Undertake regular gynaecology and gynaecological oncology clinics including suspected cancer referrals.
• Contribute to specialist services including colposcopy.
• Participate in the general gynaecology service including theatre sessions and outpatient activity.
• Participate in the gynaecology on-call rota (currently at 1:8 frequency).
• Support service development and innovation within gynaecology and gynaecological oncology services.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to the delivery of high-quality cancer care pathways.
• Engage in teaching, audit, and clinical governance activities.
