About the Role
More information about the role
It’s common to see adverts described as ‘an exciting opportunity’ with no real substance behind the assertion. However, this truly is an exciting position as this is a genuinely unique role, bringing together two specialist services within the cluster for the first time. In terms of community health services, we could be the most advanced team in the country in terms of the combined hospice and dementia services we provide.
There is no other area in Devon that has the community dementia services that we do – combining Admiral Nurses, Cognitive Stimulation Therapy and Assessment and Treatment services. At any one time, over half the population with dementia in the community are on our caseload.
We provide Hospice at Home services funded by Sidmouth Hospice at Home and Seaton League of Friends. We are in the process of setting up the service in Axminster, funded by Axminster League of Friends. The comprehensive and integrated nature of the services mean that virtually everybody in the area dies in their preferred place of death and the model of care is very highly regarded nationally.
Given the fact that the cluster has one of the oldest populations not only in England but anywhere in the world, these services are of vital importance to the people that we serve. We are an extremely innovative and high-performing team. We achieve this by hiring the best people, creating a friendly and positive culture, being innovative and adopting a systems-thinking methodology.
We are looking for a Band 7 nurse with experience in hospice care and/or dementia services. We want to attract people who love our approach and who have a passion for great leadership. If that sounds like you, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Send an email to nicky.hitchcock@nhs.net with your phone number and I will be in touch.
Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week. Monday-Friday 9-5
Interview Date: To be confirmed
For further information please contact: Nicky Hitchcock, PA to Community Services Manager, nicky.hitchcock@nhs.net
Pay: The salary advertised for this position reflects the Agenda for Change 2025/6 rates, inclusive of a 3.6% pay award which will be implemented later this year. If you join before the implementation date, the pay award will be backdated to your start date. Until then, remuneration will be based on the 2024/5 pay bandings (Pay scales for 2024/25 | NHS Employers)
