More detail about the role

Clinical research is the way we determine what the best ways are to prevent, diagnose or treat diseases. The Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital supports the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) portfolio of research to increase the number of patients who have the opportunity to participate in research, as well as enhancing the nation’s attractiveness as a host for research.

The Research Team are a multi-disciplinary team who work in all clinical areas in the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, in partnership with hospital staff, to deliver a vast array of clinical trials. This is a unique and exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, committed and disciplined practitioner to join the team. You will be working as part of the Acute Research Team, primarily working on orthopaedic studies, within the Research and Development department.  You will need to demonstrate the ability to organise, prioritise and adjust your workload in relation to requirements of a range of studies.

The post holder must demonstrate the ability to work both independently and in collaboration with medical staff and clinical teams. There will be a requirement to work autonomously within a wide range of specialties and therefore this role requires a degree of flexibility, confidence and self-motivation. The post involves face-to-face patient contact as well as coordinating the daily running of studies, which includes data collection and handling.

Working Pattern: This will be flexible but will be 22.5 hours per week, mainly during working hours, with some requirement to work evening or weekends dependant on the trial but this is not normal.

Interview Date: Monday 12th February 2024.
