Role Summary

To develop, lead and co-ordinate a high quality, safe and patient focused forward-thinking Clinical Pharmacy Service to all Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust areas to meet professional, divisional and Trust requirements.

Ensure safe and effective systems of work are maintained across Pharmacy teams to deliver high quality patient care in line with legislation and national guidance.

Provide professional Pharmacy leadership for the Clinical Pharmacy Service providing expert advice on Pharmaceutical matters.

This post provides a unique opportunity for an experienced Clinical Pharmacist with well-developed leadership skills to join the Pharmacy team at the Royal Devon University Healthcare (RDUH) NHS Foundation Trust, based at the Royal Devon Hospital in Exeter.

This is a demanding and rewarding role working within a fast-paced environment located in our main acute Pharmacy department supporting Eastern services. The role requires excellent prioritisation skills, as well as an ability to inspire and develop the Clinical Pharmacy team. In return you will enjoy working as part of an experienced and supportive Senior Pharmacy team and have opportunity to work closely with both the Clinical Pharmacy Managers for North Devon and the Eastern Community Services.

The RDUH Eastern Pharmacy team employs over 200 staff members providing services to inpatient ward areas and a variety of departments across the Trust. Outpatient services are provided through an outsource agreement with an onsite provider. We also provide Pharmacy services through a number of SLA agreements and introduced a full EPR system (EPIC) during 2020. 

We are looking for an experienced, dynamic and forward-thinking Clinical Pharmacy Manager to join our team to provide supportive, professional leadership to the Clinical Pharmacy team. 

This leadership role comes with significant line management responsibility and overall responsibility for in excess of 50 staff members including Specialist Pharmacists, Medicines Management team and the Deputy Clinical Pharmacy Manager.   

You will be an excellent communicator working collaboratively with the Clinical Pharmacy team, Trust staff and external stakeholders interacting with Health and Social Care professionals, patients and carers.

The post holder will manage and oversee operational delivery of our 7-day pharmacy service to include weekend working, late duties, on call and bank holiday provision.

You must be highly self-motivated with excellent operational knowledge and experience of the current NHS Hospital Clinical Pharmacy agenda. 

Understanding the implications of the changes to the new standards for the initial education and training of Pharmacists and impact for Clinical Pharmacy Service development and Pharmacy workforce will be essential for this role.

You will have the ability to plan and work, both independently and as part of the wider Healthcare team, to deliver excellent Pharmaceutical care to our patients.

Working Pattern: 37.5 per week. Requirement to participate in 7 day working to include late duties, bank holidays and weekend working.
