An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and passionate Registered Nurse to join the leadership team in the Surgical Care Group as Clinical Matron for the 15 bedded Intensive Care Unit at Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (based at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital in Exeter).

The Clinical Matron will be accountable for ensuring the highest standard of clinical care is provided within the Surgery Care Group. They will be easily identifiable to clients and users, provide strong, visible leadership and have the appropriate level of authority to provide support, advice and assistance required by patients, their families and carers. The key focus will be Patient Safety, Patient Experience, user engagement, quality care and clinical outcomes will be essential.

The post holder will have clinical and managerial responsibility for a defined clinical portfolio within the Surgery Care Group, which will include the Intensive Care Unit. They will also have lead clinical responsibility for supporting the Care Group in activities relating to the delivery of high quality services, including involvement in maintaining activity levels, managing service pressures & patient flow and maintaining the highest standards of care. They will lead on delegated projects on behalf of the Care Group and will provide support for day to day operational issues, and deputise as deemed appropriate.

The Clinical Matron role requires a dynamic leader with a proven history of delivering high-quality, safe, and efficient patient care.
