This is an exciting 12 month fixed term opportunity to join the Physiotherapy service at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (Eastern Services) as the Clinical Lead Physiotherapist working across Acute & Respiratory Medicine.

The post holder will carry a clinical caseload of highly complex patients within the designated inpatient and outpatient areas. They will provide advanced assessment and treatment of patients on a day-to-day basis, communicating complex conditions and related information to patients and relatives. The post holder will be responsible for the management and supervision of the Physiotherapy team, covering areas of performance, clinical outcomes and service delivery.

The post holder will be responsible for the clinical leadership and management of the Physiotherapy team covering the Respiratory Medicine wards (Culm East & West), High Dependency Unit, Respiratory outpatient clinics and areas of medical escalation as required.

The post-holder is responsible for providing joint leadership and clinical expertise to patients and Therapists based within the acute respiratory wards and in providing specialist advice and interventions for patients with chronic respiratory conditions in an outpatient setting.

The post holder will provide highly specialist assessment and intervention for a complex caseload, and will take a lead in multi-disciplinary activities. This role will include supporting complex respiratory cases providing leadership, knowledge and expertise around the management of respiratory conditions and the deteriorating patient, including HDU and tracheostomy care across the Trust and assisting in facilitating timely discharges to be achieved by the service. The post holder will have excellent communication skills and an understanding of the pathways across the acute and community service to manage the acutely unwell patient.

The post holder will also support the outpatient respiratory clinics within medical out-patients and will be responsible for developing the Physiotherapy service and attending MDTs.

The post holder will lead the training and development of less experienced staff, undergraduates and other professionals and be responsible for the development and delivery of on call and weekend competencies for the physiotherapy staff.

The post holder will work closely with fellow Clinical Lead Physiotherapists and Clinical Lead Occupational Therapists in facilitating resolution of workload/staffing issues, ensuring risk assessments are completed and providing information to the Division as required in the absence of the Head of the Service.

The post holder will contribute to leading the training and development of less experienced staff, undergraduates and other professionals as required.

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, across 7 days (including bank holidays, weekend and on-call support shifts on a rota basis)

This is a fixed term contract for 12 months. For current NHS employees this post could be a secondment opportunity.
