Role Summary
This Macmillan funded, Lung Cancer Nurse Specialist role is key to improving the patient experience, co-ordinating services, personalising the cancer pathway and providing support to the patient and their family.
The post holder will work as a specialist practitioner with advanced clinical skills within a MDT to ensure that patients presenting acutely with suspected lung cancer or complications of treatment receive prompt and appropriate diagnostic tests, clinical assessment, treatment, intervention, care and therapy. They will contribute their clinical expertise to both the diagnostic pathway and the later stages of the service pathway.
The ANP will provide a Specialist Lung Nursing service, including nurse led clinics for 2WW diagnostics, SACT prescribing and review of toxicities.
They will monitor and lead improvements to standards of care through supervision of practice, clinical audit, implementation of evidence based practice, teaching and support of colleagues and the provision of professional leadership.
Acting as a role model for high standards of holistic care and providing clinical leadership across the Trust for this specialist area.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Advanced Care Practitioner to join the Lung Cancer nursing team at Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. The successful applicant will be an integral part of the CNS and wider respiratory team involved in all aspects of the patients pathway from diagnosis and treatment, through to follow up and support of patients living with a lung cancer diagnosis.
The post holder should have advanced clinical expertise, levels of judgement, discretion and decision making in clinical care whilst maintaining a professional portfolio in line with the Trust Framework for Advanced Practice.
Alternatively, we can support the right individual with experience in Lung Cancer to undertake the Trainee Advanced Practitioner programme as a development Band 7 post.
Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week
