Role Summary

This post will be responsible for the day to day rota co-ordination, supervision, mentoring and support of the admin team for the Acute Medical Unit.  

This vital role, working alongside the Admin Line Manager assists in the management and supervision of the Acute Medical Unit Ward Clerks and Patient Flow Coordinators to enable the coordination of patient flow within the Acute Medical Unit.

The Acute Medical Unit deals with approximately 21,000 admissions per year and is an exciting and stimulating place to work. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person to join the Acute Medical Unit Administration team as a Team Leader. This vital role, working alongside the Admin Line Manager, assists in the management and supervision of the Acute Medical Unit Ward Clerks and Patient Flow Coordinators to enable the coordination of patient flow within the Acute Medical Unit, Medical Triage Unit and Same Day Emergency Care.

You must have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage a team of administration staff. It is essential that you have the ability to deal with confidentiality issues and be able to provide excellent customer care service. You will have a mature outlook, experience of leading an admin team and be proactive with the ability to respond to regularly changing priorities. You will demonstrate the ability to work efficiently, supervising admin colleagues, supporting the wider Healthcare team, setting up and supporting admin systems. 

This role would suit someone who has exceptional interpersonal skills, is proactive and looking for a challenge. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to remain calm under pressure and have experience of dealing with the general public, and with difficult/distressed people. A flexible approach to work and an understanding of working in a busy environment with minimal supervision are also essential.

The post holder may be required to undertake additional hours to cover for colleagues during periods of annual/sick leave.

Working Pattern: 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, days to be confirmed.
